Mijas

Separated into two main areas, “Pueblo” and “Costa”, Mijas gets its name from the white washed village which is nestled up in the mountains above the coastline. Located just 6km inland from Fuengirola, Mijas strikes just the right balance between tourist destination and residential area, proving particularly popular with older tourists. The village has everything at its disposal including shops, banks and schools and is a haven for traditional tapas bars and Bistros.

Down on the coast, Mijas boasts a 12Km stretch of sandy beaches and encompasses many popular parts of the Costa del Sol. From Calahonda to Riviera to La Cala, much of the area has been developed over the past 30 years giving it a modern and sustainable feel. What Mijas Costa is lacking in culture and historical buildings, it more than makes up for in an infrastructure designed to cater for holidaymakers and locals alike. It´s a golfer’s paradise with dozens of courses for all abilities in the surrounding area. It’s well-established transport links mean if you want to soak up some of the local Andalusian culture, you can hop on a bus or grab a rental car and visit the nearby towns of Marbella and Fuengirola or the Moorish city of Malaga.
